DESCRIPTION

Created in Partnership with the Digntity Not Detention Coalition.

A night to gather in solidarity and act to end immigration detention in New York state with The Dignity Not Detention Act and uphold the Flores Settlement Agreement protections for children and families held in detention.

This free event was filled with performances, music, and a galvanizing conversation between immigrant rights’ lawyer Elora Mukherjee, and Dignity Not Detention organizers, Rosa Cohen-Cruz and Tania Mattos, moderated by investigative reporter Aura Bogado.

Grammy and Latin Grammy Award Guatemalan singer/songwriter Gaby Moreno performed original music and the all-women Brazilian drumline FogoAzul rounded out the event.

Our readers were actors Amara James Aja, Amber Iman, Ángel Lozada, and Modesto “Flako” Jimenez.
