New Works Lab Kickstarter
Waterwell's New Works Lab @ PPAS is the country's leading development program for challenging new plays for young actors.
In the past three years it has presented premieres by A. Rey Pamatmat (Edith Can Shoot Things and Hit Them), Bekah Brunstetter (Be a Good Little Widow) and Stephen Karam (Sons of the Prophet, a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize). All three plays have been published and are available from Playscripts.
The 2014 playwright is Nick Jones (Trevor), currently a staff writer on Orange is the New Black. Nick is writing a moving and surprisingly funny piece based on the biblical character Salome. It's a contemporary take on classical themes, written expressly for the Drama Class of 2014 at PPAS.
"As a parent, my kids are the most important part of my life. As an actor, solid and creative training is essential. As a parent of acting kids, I cannot think of a better performing arts education for them than that which Waterwell provides at PPAS." - Connie Shulman, actor and parent.
KELLI O'HARA JOINS STL YEAR TWO!
Kelli O'Hara in Bridges of Madison County
Waterwell's Summer Theater Lab is proud and honored to have Broadway Star Kelli O'Hara join us in year two of it's programming. Currently on Broadway with Bridges of Madison County, this four-time Tony nominee is our first Master Class Artist to join our faculty this summer.
Now in its second year, the Waterwell Summer Theater Lab offers dedicated high school students the opportunity to engage in week-long intensives in theater and music theater with world-class practitioners in the heart of New York City's fabled Theater District. Last year's inaugural session brought students from across the nation including the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts, LaGuardia School of Performing Arts and the Professional Performing Arts School, who were taught by guest artists Stephen Adly Guirgis (Tony Nominee), Lin-Manuel Miranda (In The Heights), Otis Sallid (Smokey Joe's Cafe) and Beau Willimon (House of Cards).
SAVE: The next 20 people who apply before Mar 14, 2014, get one session for only $599! (Only valid for one session.)
