Mozhan Navabi is an Iranian-American actor, writer and director based in New York. She is most well-known for her work as FBI Agent Samar on five seasons of NBC’s The Blacklist, and as journalist Ayla Sayyad on two seasons of House of Cards. Selected other credits: Fleishman is in Trouble (opposite Jesse Eisenberg), Zero Day (opposite Robert De Niro), Pam & Tommy, The Affair, Ramy, Girl Walks Home Alone at Night (Sundance, world premiere.) As a writer, her work has been screened at the El Gouna Film Festival, Provincetown Film Festival, LA Shorts Fest, and the Asian-American Film Festival. She was a quarterfinalist for the Nicholl Fellowhip for her screenplay, When the Lights Went Out, which she adapted as a play and was produced at New York Stage & Film. She has an M.F.A. from the Yale School of Drama.

An Iranian-American woman returns home from her estranged father’s funeral in Iran, with her inheritance in tow: an African Grey parrot that belonged to him. As her relationship with the parrot changes, so do her complicated feelings about her father.
