Priscillia Kounkou Hoveyda
The Things That Rot
Priscillia Kounkou Hoveyda is a Congolese Iranian award-winning filmmaker, recovering human rights lawyer and founder/creative director at the Collective for Black Iranians. Her films are grounded in shared African and Iranian heritage as it lyrically tells less heard stories in both documentary and fiction form. She is currently in post-production of her narrative short, The Things that Rot, and in production of two feature documentaries, A Black Girl, From Iran and Queens of Freetown, Searching for FannyAnn. Priscillia is a 2026 Berlinale Talents, 2025 Locarno Open Doors Director and 2024 Atlantic Fellow on Racial Equity. Her trailblazing work has been published in many outlets from BBC, Screendaily to AlJazeera, France 24 and more.

THE THINGS THAT ROT - NARRATIVE SHORT FILM
Twelve-year old ballet dancer, Pegah, is prepping for her first show when her tooth starts aching and as war breaks out in her parents' home country, Iran. As her tooth begins to rot so does her parents' relationship and the situation in their country of origin.
