Simone Gelety

Theatre Management Intern

Simone Gelety (they/them) is a New York-based artist and arts administrator originally from Tucson, Arizona.

They currently work as the Theatre Management Intern at Waterwell and continue to work as a freelance director, actor, and dance artist. Their focus is to use art to interrogate cultural and political nuance in LGBTQ+ issues and gender performance, climate change, and the growing class divide. In New York, they have worked with New York Live Arts, The Gene Frankel Theater, The Chain Theater, and the Brooklyn Young Adult Film Festival.

Simone is a recent summa cum laude graduate of Otterbein University with a BFA in Acting and a minor in Dance. At Otterbein, they directed Sarah Burgess’ Dry Powder, Susan Glaspell’s Suppressed Desires, and Wendy Wasserstein’s Tender Offer, in addition to several original works. They wrote and produced their political-satire short film Ring Around the Rosie, as well as produced the satirical horror short film The Columbus Coroner and co-produced the student dance concert, Dances on Love. For three years, they choreographed and performed as a drag queen with the annual Cap & Dagger Broadway Cares Fundraiser.
