MA Directing alumna of the National Film and Television School (NFTS), Elahe Esmaili ranked 1st in Iran’s national university entrance exam (Konkour) and earned her BA in Film from the Tehran University of Art. Her films have premiered and awarded at leading festivals including IDFA, Telluride Film Festival, BFI London Film Festival, Visions du Réel, Hot Docs, Sheffield Doc/Fest, Clermont-Ferrand, Doc NYC, Dok Leipzig, Uppsala International Short Film Festival, Huesca International Film Festival, Cleveland International Film Festival, and Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia, among others, and nominated for awards such as IDA, BIFA, and Critics Choice Awards.

PROJECT SYNOPSIS

I’M NOT AFRAID OF TOMORROW - NARRATIVE SHORT FILM

After being misidentified as a refugee, Nika, an Iranian painter, becomes trapped in a remote asylum facility in Yorkshire. With no ID and no way out, she joins forces with another woman to reclaim their freedom and dignity.
