HAITI'S IN OUR HEARTS

The following is from Lauren Cregor's website. "The tragedy in Haiti goes beyond words, and beyond our worst nightmares. There is no true consolation in these moments; there is only the strength to keep moving, which we mysteriously find in ourselves and others. We are all in this together. Our beautiful friend and colleague, Rodney Gardiner, wrote lyrics after his family on Turks and Caicos endured Hurricane Hanna and were unreachable for far too long. Lauren Cregor put those lyrics to music and created Busy for last summer's show, #9. May his heartfelt words remind us that, though pain is universal, so too is love and healing."

BUSY

Up and away
Unseen, unheard
Feeling so alone
Made so by a busy tone
It took me and held me
Like the white jacket fastened shut

Heavy water
Over the sand
Turned to mud
My homeland

And I am drowning in the ether
The busy tone won’t throw my rope
The wind has come and gone
So I have heard and so I hope

But the busy tone won't give me solace
Won't throw me what I need to float
Hey operator
Forget the lovers
Help me reach my folks

Help me reach my folks
