DON'T GIVE WATERWELL MONEY

If you've been reading the news you know that Democrats in Congress and the White House are close to finalizing a deal that will grant Waterwell the entirety of the $700 billion government bailout recently passed by both houses.

With those funds Waterwell will now be able to hire a much needed part-time office assistant/dramaturg. (Please send cover letter and resume to hr@waterwell.org.)

In light of this recent development, the board and ensemble are happy to announce that in 2008 Waterwell is breaking with non-profit tradition. This yearend as you prepare your philanthropic portfolio, we respectfully request that you NOT give money to Waterwell. We have quite enough now. More than we could ever spend. The cast all have fresh, high-end mani-pedis. Over the holidays we'll be throwing birthday parties for stranger's children at FAO Schwarz. All this while completing the final stages of development on our latest drop, #9.

In short: we're loaded.

So this year keep your money. Spend it on something more worthwhile. We'll just keep doing provocative, high-quality work like #9, a piece about one of the fundamental issues of our time: new technologies and how they're affecting the ways we think and act.

But don't take our word for it. A bunch of people we thought were our friends got together and made this video telling you all the reasons why they think you should NOT give Waterwell money.*

*Everything we just said was a lie. We would really appreciate your support. In fact we need it. The government (DCA, NYSCA, NEA) is technically supporting us, but that amounts to only half of what it will cost to present an ambitious new music theater piece like #9.

Won't you reaffirm that belief now with a gift of $20, $50, $100 or more?

Below are examples of the impact your gift can make as well as some ways we'd like to thank you for showing your support for Waterwell at this crucial time.

Thank you for all you've done over the last six years. For it we remain...

Warmly yours,

Arian Moayed                       Tom Ridgely
