Arian Moayed Nominated for Drama Desk Award
Waterwell Artistic Director Arian Moayed has been nominated for a Drama Desk Award (Outstanding Featured Actor in a Play) for his work in Masked, which ran concurrently with 2007's The|King|Operetta.
Set during the Intifada, Masked was a play about a family torn between duty, kinship and survival. For a few weeks last summer Arian played one of three Palestinian brothers in Masked at the DR2 at 8:00pm, then went onstage as LBJ, Jesse Jackson and others in The|King|Operetta at Barrow Street at 9:30pm.
Drama Desk nominees received their official nomination certificates at a cocktail reception on Thursday, May 1, at Arte Café.
The 53rd Annual Drama Desk Awards will be held Sunday, May 18, 2008, in the LaGuardia Concert Hall at Lincoln Center. The awards show will be webcast for the sixth year in a row by TheaterMania.com. It will also be broadcast live on satellite radio’s XM – 28 On Broadway for the second consecutive year.
Congratulations, Arian!
